The Quetzalcoatlus was a pterosaur, or flying reptile, that lived during the time of dinosaurs. Named after the feathered serpent god of ancient Mesoamerican mythology, it is one of the largest known flying animals of all time, with a wingspan that could reach a staggering 36 feet, as big as a small plane.
Despite its size, the Quetzalcoatlus was a proficient hunter. It is believed to have used a technique called "skimming" or "ground-stalking" for hunting. This meant that rather than catching its prey in the air, like many birds do today, it likely stalked its prey on the ground, using its long and sharp beak to snatch up small animals and fish.
Given its long neck and large size, the Quetzalcoatlus could potentially have hunted prey much larger than the typical diet of modern predatory birds. However, the exact nature of its diet is still the subject of scientific debate.
